1 Rep Fitness – How a Single Rep Kicked My Butt
Here’s a new article that just got published at Ezine Articles. Just to sum it up: I tried out 1 rep fitness and it kicked my butt. It’s more than worth a try if you’re serious about getting into shape.
Here’s How:
I just tried a little technique called static contraction training, and it kicked my butt!
Now, you might be wondering, how could a single rep kick anyone’s butt? It’s pretty simple actually, you hold your muscle tensed at the contracted point of any exercise for a set amount of time with a certain weight.
Being just mildly curious, I decided to try it out with a push up while I was watching a movie. I turned on the stopwatch function of my phone and turned it on. Then all I did was lower myself to the ground at the contracted point of the push up and I held it, for a long time.
Well, in reality, it wasn’t that long, but it felt like an eternity. When I couldn’t take it anymore, I pushed back up and got up. It felt great. Give it a try. For yourself, you’ll be surprised by the impact it has on your muscles. If you do it with a few exercises while watching TV, you’ll be getting fit without hundreds of reps per week. Throw in some body weight squats, full body crunches, and leg lifts to really push your body to the limit.
When you really want to turn up the power of this technique, try it with weights at the gym and see your strength improve extremely quickly!
Studies have shown that doing this 2-3 times per week with the right amount of weight can double your strength in less than a month.
